OUQIS is Oxford's student-led society for quantum information science, and we make it accessible to anyone curious enough to show up, whatever they're studying.

We've hosted researchers working on trapped-ion processors, superconducting qubits and photonic chips, alongside theorists building new quantum algorithms and error-correction codes. We've also explored quantum key distribution over satellite links, network architectures, and the road to a quantum internet.
Beyond the hardware we dig into the ideas that connect it all: information theory, computational complexity, quantum thermodynamics, and what quantum mechanics really says about nature. If a topic sits where quantum physics meets information, chances are we've covered it, or plan to.
We also built Quantum Courier Service, a free introductory course to quantum information science for people with no physics or coding background, taught through an interactive spy story instead of a lecture. It's self-paced and available year-round. There's no sign-up, so start whenever you like.
Any member of the University of Oxford can join, regardless of department or degree. Everything we run, from talks and workshops to Quantum Courier Service, is built to work from zero background.
