  • Thermal Jitter: Cables get too warm, causing electrons to vibrate like over-caffeinated undergraduates, accidentally faking a 5-volt pulse.
  • Cosmic Sabotage: A high-energy cosmic ray from a supernova three galaxies away can crash through the Earth's atmosphere, strike our server hardware, and literally flip a 1 to a 0.

This creates the ultimate epistemological crisis: A flipped bit carries absolutely no forensic evidence. It does not come with a tiny sticky note explaining how it got there.

Was the data corrupted by a harmless cosmic ray? Did a deep-sea shark take a bite out of our cable? Or did an Echo Network operative clumsily trigger an electrical fault while trying to clone our data? Because we can never distinguish between the blind clumsiness of nature and the intentional sabotage of a spy, the classical communicator is forced into a state of permanent, agonizing paranoia.
